1.　To change sb’s mind (改變主意)

例子1：

A: Well......I don't think I want to hang out with you guys after work.  

(嗯……我下班後不想和你們一起出去了。)

B: What do you mean? I thought you said we were going shopping together.  

(甚麼意思？你不是說和我們一起去購物的嗎？)

A: I know, but I changed my mind. I'm too tired today.

(是的，但我改變了主意了，我今天太累了。)

 

例子2：

My client changed his mind at the very last minute.

我的客戶在最後一刻改變了主意。

 

2.　To have a change of heart (改變主意)

例子1：

The manager had a change of heart by the time he left the conference room.

當經理離開會議室時，他已經改變主意了。

 

例子2：

I had a change of heart after a serious conversation with the department head.

在與部門負責人認真交談後，我改變了主意。

 

例子3：

Chris was going to sell his house but had a change of heart at the last minute.

3.　 Let me think it over (讓我再考慮一下)

例子1：

A: Are you sure that this is the right decision for you?

(你確定這對你來說是正確的決定嗎？)

B: ^Hang on a minute.  Let me think it over.

(請稍等，讓我再考慮一下。)

 

^ Hang on a minute＝稍等片刻。當你希望有更多時間來思考是否有需要改變主意時，你可以說hang on a minute，以請對方稍等。

 

4.　On second thought (在仔細考慮以後; 深思熟慮後)

At first I thought I liked the plan, but on second thought I decided to oppose it.

一開始我以為我喜歡這個計劃，但深思熟慮後我發現我未能接納它。

 

例子2：

A: Let’s chill out after work.

(下班後去放鬆一下吧！)

B: OK.

(好呀。)

B: On second thought…... I'd rather stay home and take care of my kid. How about we hang out tomorrow instead?

(仔細考慮後，我還是在家裡照顧孩子好了。 我們明天出去玩怎麼樣？)

 

5.　On /upon reflection (經過反思後; 深思熟慮後)

例子：

Upon reflection, we decided to create a better work/life balance. Therefore, we would close on every Wednesday starting from 27th November.

經過深思熟慮，我們決定創造更好的工作生活平衡。 因此，我們將在 11 月 27 日起的每個星期三休息。

 

6.　After careful consideration (經過慎重考慮)

“After careful consideration”是指「經過慎重考慮」，為較正式的表達方式。

 

例子：

After careful consideration, I have decided to leave so as to explore new opportunities and develop my career further.

經過慎重考慮，我決定離任，以探索新的機會，並進一步發展我的事業。

 

7.　 Did a 180  (180度的大轉變)

例子：

I was pretty happy with the job initially, but my boss did a 180 and decided to change the terms of my employment.
