Description
“Swan Lake” is the most well-known of all classical ballets, set to Pyotr Tchaikovsky immortal music, it still remains the most popular of all ballets after 100 years.
The fairy-tale plot of “Swan Lake” revolves around the love between the young Prince Siegfried and the beautiful Princess Odette. The Princess is under a spell cast by the wicked sorcerer Rothbart: she is transformed into a swan by day and re-assumes human form at night. Only the absolute faithful love of a man can break the spell.
Just as the Swan Princess Odette meets young Prince Siegfried who falls in love with her, the sorcerer confuses the Prince and blinds his eyes by presenting his own beguiling daughter. The Swan Princess returns to the lake heartbroken. However, in the end Prince Siegfried realizes his mistake, and swears unending love for Swan Princess Odette. The story tells of how true love triumphs over forces of evil.
