The game of power is an intriguing one, as La Triochka, an all-female trio from France, proves with dazzling acrobatics, lifts and aerial arts.
Domination and submission are never as clear-cut as they may seem. In Top Down, one woman readily subjugates herself to the lowest rung of the social ladder, only to find the two high-flyers above her literally walking all over her as they scramble their way up. Before long, it all becomes too much for the lowly woman who decides to call it quits.
As it happens, this slightest breach kicks open the doors to change. From being led to leading, the woman at the bottom reshapes the entire relationship, as the trio narrates with their physique for a bond that is built upon understanding, reconciliation, respect, empathy, trust, and more.
As a performance that questions roles, the places we take, and the places we leave behind, TopDown is also an intimate, heartwarming theatrical attempt that champions peaceful coexistence and challenges class gaps.
